Zodiac Kerfuffle, January, 2011: here’s the first mention of the note I sent to our editors, letting them know that nothing has changed about how astrological signs are charted since astronomer Parke Kunkle revived the issue of precession of equinoxes.

Projects and a selection of published work:

We're producing our first feature documentary film with Mercury Press, for release in 2019, Community Strong: 50 Years of Santa Barbara ActivismThe 1969 Santa Barbara Oil Spill inspired Earth Day, the EPA, the first Environmental Studies department at UCSB, and hundreds of organizations that provide strength and resilience to Santa Barbara and beyond through recent oil, fire, flood and mud disasters. From disaster survivors and leaders then to the next generation taking up the torch, we celebrate five decades of community connection, solutions and action.

The EcoHeroes Project is an ongoing series that we’ve been working on for almost a decade, together with my husband, photographer Isaac Hernandez, and El Mundo bureau chief Carlos Fresneda. This series features almost two hundred portraits and profiles of environmental leaders who are making a difference to create a sustainable world. This is our passion project.

Our Inspiring Women series of features include this interview with opera star Nancy Fabiola Herrera for Telva magazine (Spain), and Cass Warner in Santa Barbara Magazine, with her film about her father, Jack Warner, and their family and business, The Brothers Warner.

Years of coverage of the Santa Barbara International Film Festival for El Mundo included this favorite, on Jeff Bridges (published on Cultura online and in the print edition of El Mundo (Spain) on Jeff Bridges Day and the Best Actor Oscar for Crazy Heart. Other favorite stories from the Festival include this El Mundo cover story on Kathryn Bigelow, (here's the interior spread) when she won the Best Director Oscar for Hurt Locker

This Article in El Mundo on Ecomerit’s Thermal Taming Chamber was especially satisfying; Bubbles to Capture the Crude, it appeared during the BP Oil Spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
